Latino and Caribbean designers continue to assert themselves in defining
and influencing the world of fashion and the Windy City becomes the talk
of the fashionistas at the 2nd Chicago Latino Fashion Week, October 27-
November 2, 2008. This seven-day event will include educational seminars,
retail trunk shows, celebrity appearances and VIP parties at some of Chicago’s
hottest venues.
The Industry
Latinos have always been a significant part of fashion as avid consumers and with the coveted looks of designers Oscar De La Renta, Carolina Herrera and Narciso Rodriguez just to name a few.
Chicago Latino Fashion Week celebrates unity and diversity in the town known for its architectural beauty and offers creative show production and mutually beneficial marketing partnerships with some of the most affluent decision makers, buyers, retailers, and associations including the Great North Michigan Avenue Association, the different Chambers of Commerce, nightclubs and members of the national and International press from around the world and television media coverage.
We invite your company to become a sponsor partner of the most talked-about event in Chicago that will further market your brand to a coveted multi-cultural audience that continues to grow. Opening Doors
The completion of the first Chicago Latino Fashion Week had lead to many new opportunities for our local designers and models, including:
- Anna Fong – 2007 AOL Fashionista Award Winner, Pilsen showroom opened July 2008, featured in International fashion shows, fall line picked up by Macy’s department store.
- Elda De La Rosa – Lands contract with dance company Gus Giordano.
- Horacio Nieto – 2008 AOL Fashionista Award Winner, fall line picked up by Macy’s department store.
- James De Colon – Landed front cover of a New York Times Fashion story. Opened his showroom in May 2008 and was selected as the costume designer for the Luna Negra Dance Company fall season.
Derrick Grant – Model, lands a contract with Calvin Klein
HOLLYWOOD LATINO
The 2nd Chicago Latino Fashion Week will pay tribute to old glamour Hollywood
Latino. Each designer will selected their favorite Latino Hollywood figure
and design a collection in honor of them. Chicago Latino Fashion Week
2008 will showcase its Spring 2009 collection.
Guest celebrities include Chicago’s own Freddy Rodriguez (Six Feet
Under, Ugly Betty and soon to be release “Humboldt Park” the
movie)
Azucena Cierco – Entertainment Correspondent – Al Rojo Vivo
– Telemundo and the Legendary Rita Moreno who will receive the honorary
Hollywood Icon Award.
The 2nd Chicago Latino Fashion Week will pay tribute to old Hollywood Latino Glamour. Each participating designer will feature a Spring 2009 collection and a couture piece inspired by their favorite Latino Hollywood figure. Confirmed guest celebrities include Chicago’s own Freddy Rodriguez (HBO’s “Six Feet Under”, ABC’s “Ugly Betty” and soon the to be released film, “Humboldt Park”), Azucena Cierco, Entertainment Correspondent for "Al Rojo Vivo", Telemundo Network, and legendary actress Rita Moreno, who will receive the honorary Hollywood Icon Award.
